The following programs were presented for our 2016 meetings:

  • January Meeting (was postponed -- Then Re-Scheduled for August, 2016:) -- John Dunn
  • Our guest speaker at that meeting will be Dr. John Dunn of Dunn Chiropractic. He specializes in Upper Cervical Chiropractic. The topic of his presentation will be “TMJ Home Care,” and he will be talking about chronic headaches and how they relate to TMJ Syndrome.

Jaw misalignments are caused by falls, car accidents, contact sports, or extensive dental work. No wonder they are as common as they are. There is always a jaw component with chronic headaches. It can also cause neck, upper back, shoulder, and “hip” pain. Since ligaments are stretched as part of the injury, home care is essential. It’s easy to do and fun to teach.

John Dunn, D.C. is a 1979 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He practiced three years in Italy, seeing 150 patients per day, with the socialized health care system. His passion has always been upper cervical work. John opened his office in Tallahassee in 1985 with the intention of doing upper cervical work and integrating what he had learned in Italy. He became certified by National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association in order to teach at their seminars.

  • May 10, 2016 -- Integrative Healthcare -- Note Different Venue!
  • The May 10 presentation will take place at the new office of Integrative Healthcare (IHC), 1630 Riggins Road, off Mahan Drive. It will be from 7:00 'til 8:30 pm.

Integrative Healthcare has been offering primary and alternative therapy since the year 2000. Hundreds of patients consider IHC, a Nurse-Practitioner-owned practice, to be their primary health care provider. IHC is affiliated with the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM), led by Dr. Mark Hyman. They offer the services of over a dozen independent medical labs from around the country; many of these labs tests are difficult to access outside of IHC. The methods of diagnosis and treatment at IHC are based on science, as well as Elizabeth Markovich’s extensive experience. It’s much more than your grandmother’s chicken soup. They also offer Mind-Body Medicine by Dr. IB Price.

Martin Markovich, PhD, will speak on the business aspects of integrative/holistic care in general and IHC in particular. He will focus on hard decisions many health care providers need to make, such as how much staff to hire and what services to offer and advertise. He will also discuss some of the odd experiences that come with starting and owning your own health care business.

Elizabeth Markovich, DNP, will give a brief overview of Functional Medicine, IHC services, and how she came to her treatment philosophy. Both speakers will encourage discussion and take questions from the audience.

Louise believes that food is a pathway for healing within ourselves and for our community as a whole. Louise owns and operates Turkey Hill Farm with her husband Herman Holley, where they grow natural, and sustainably produced food. • October 11, 2016 -- Bill Bowling, on Microcurrent Pain Systems
  • Dr. Bill Bowling will be our guest presenter on Tuesday, October 11, and he will be speaking on the subject of Microcurrent pain systems (MPS), which is an amazing technique developed by Bruce Hocking, DAc. It is a hybrid therapy combining aspects of osteopathy, acupuncture, microcurrent e-stim, and western neurology. The technology is affordable, and in his 36 years of practice, he’s never taken a two-day continuing education course which has allowed him to help patients as much on the Monday after the seminar. He believes it will improve any professional’s outcomes who treats challenging chronic pain patients. Also, over the years Bill has taught many lay people how to decrease their use of pain medicines with this effective tool. The future will be ruled by those who can help patients get better, quicker, regardless of the initials after their names.

During his 36 years of practice, Dr. Bowling (DPT0002795) has studied under some of the leaders in the field, including Grimsby, Mennell, McKenzie, Upledger, G. Johnson, Woodman, Pare, Sahrmann, and McMakin. He is certified to teach the entry-level workshop on Microcurrent Pain Systems. He completed certification in Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) in 2012 and has taught manual therapy to FAMU Physical Therapy students. Bill uses his extensive manual therapy and exercise background to teach patients how to restore and maintain musculoskeletal health with appropriate home follow-up. In 2012 he completed the Level 2 Biomagnetism course as taught by I. G. Duran, MD, and is integrating this into his practice.

  • December 13, 2016 -- Phyllis Fisher, CH, Gold Certified HBCE, NGH (National Guild of Hypnotists)
  • The December 2016 HAA conversation will include a discussion to learn more about the amazing benefits of hypnosis and a group hypnosis session!

Much of life’s creative process happens without our conscious knowledge. There are conscious and subconscious forces operating in our lives, and for most, the mind does not decide which thought it should act on. The fact is, whatever the conscious mind believes, whether the belief is true or not, the subconscious mind will act upon that belief with equal efficiency -- impersonally.

Hypnosis is a way to become acquainted with the workings of the mind and to help individuals become aware of and change unhelpful behaviors, reduce stress, and develop positive motivation to improve personal interests, performance, and to enjoy life. Hypnosis is a natural process in which your mind is more receptive to positive suggestions, insights, and releasing negative feelings during deep relaxation.

Using hypnosis can help one to take control of habits, behaviors, and feelings, and for adults and children to:
~ Improve Fitness, Enjoy Exercise, Lose Weight w/o Diets
~ Stop Smoking Easily without Withdrawal
    ~ Eliminate Nail Biting
~ Improve Memory, Study Habits, Test Scores, and Academic Improvement
~ Wedding (and/or an important event) Anxiety Relief
~ HypnoBirthing® - Hypnosis for Fertility, Calm Childbirth & Breastfeeding
    ~ Reduce Stress, Increase Relaxation
    ~ Sleep Improvement
~ Increase Confidence for all ages
    ~ SleepTalk® A Self-Esteem Program for Children
~ SleepTalk® is “Happiness Insurance” which is just as important as “Health Insurance”
~ A highly acclaimed Self-Esteem Program for children ages 2-16: Easy to learn; a very effective and helpful process for every parent who has experienced difficulty with parenting their child, while bringing a peaceful and loving foundation back into the family.

I offer a free confidential phone consultation for all of the above. (See HAA Directory) or ON TARGET Hypnosis Education -- 850.877.4718
